We would like to thank you all for the great interest shown in our web page.
Unfortunately we are deeply sorry to inform you that the event cannot take place due to the severe economic crisis. This has not
allowed the Municipality of Turin to allocate the resources needed for all the cultural initiatives envisaged on the occasion of the Universal Exposition EXPO 2015 and has made nearly impossible to rely mainly on private sponsors.
The limited amount made available by the Municipality of Turin to finance the performance, as based on their priorities, does not allow our Association (Italian Military Tattoo) to organize the Italian Military Tattoo for 2015. Such a decision has been duly communicated to our local administrative authorities. We sincerely hope that a new impulse to economic recovery will be provided, which would allow us to try again in 2016.
Should there be any change in the above decision which might eventually result in a reviewed/limited performance for 2015, both as to the number of shows and performers taking part to it, we will let you know.

THE EUROPEAN FESTIVAL OF MILITARY PERFORMERS

Every year two global gathering showcasing military performers in historical costumes are held, one in Basel, in July and one in Edinburgh, in August.
Further to the military bands, several military corps are performing in tournaments, parades, gun competitions, singing, and ballet. These two performances have received universal acclaim both from the critics and the audience since their early days.
The performances have been televised to a large audience with a worldwide coverage.

THE WORD "TATTOO"

The word “tattoo” dates back to the 17th century, when the British Army stationed in Flanders. Each night a regiment’s Corps of Drums was sent around the city to play what became a signal to the tavern owners to “turn off the tap of their ales kegs ” and to the soldier to go back to their billeted lodgings.
